Application Info

Applications are reviewed after three separate deadlines throughout the year, and select candidates will be invited to a virtual final interview about three weeks after each deadline: November 1, January 1, and March 1. Click here for more information about the timeline for each application deadline.

The application includes (1) questions about you, your education, and your testing history; (2) several open-response questions; (3) supporting document uploads; and (4) optional recommendation requests. Please note: you will be able to save your application, exit the application, and pick up where you left off when you return. Once you submit your application, you will not be able to make any edits to your application.

Open-Response Questions

There are four open-response questions in addition to questions about your personal information, education, and prior experience.  Please answer all questions in 150-400 words:

  • Purpose: Why do you want to join the Arkansas Teacher Corps, and how do you anticipate changing and growing over the next three years as a result of your participation with ATC?
  • Commitment: How have your previous education and experiences prepared you for this opportunity? How does teaching align with your long-term professional goals?
  • Self-Awareness: What are some of your personal values, and how do they guide your own beliefs about the best way to lead others and pursue progress? How do your own life experiences influence this conviction?
  • Learning Mindset: Tell us about a time you received feedback with which you strongly disagreed at first: What was the feedback, and what steps did you take to better understand the feedback and respond to it? What did you learn about yourself as a result of that reflection?

Supporting Documents

You will also be prompted to upload a resume and unofficial copies of college transcripts in one of the following formats: Word (.doc or .docx) or PDF (.pdf). Include your first and last name in addition to the type of document when you save and name the file (such as JohnDoe_Resume.pdf).

  • Resume: Upload a resume (two page max) to demonstrate how your previous education and experience (including awards, licenses/certifications, professional learning and development, extracurricular activities, community service, leadership roles, etc) have prepared you to serve as a teacher.
  • Unofficial Undergraduate Transcript: You may scan a paper transcript or save a comprehensive grade report from your online student account. Graduate transcripts (if applicable) are encouraged but not required.

Recommendations

You may request up to 3 recommendations as part of your application. If you are currently teaching in a K-12 school, at least 1 of your recommendations MUST be from a current leader at your school who can speak to your performance as a teacher. Please note: requests must be sent before submitting your application, but recommenders may complete recommendations after your application has been submitted.
